As the season progresses in the Colorado mountains, the brilliant hues of autumn slowly begin to fade. The shimmering gold of the aspens, which once illuminated entire hillsides, starts to dull and fall to the forest floor. Shades of orange and red turn muted, giving way to browns as cooler winds strip the trees bare. The once-vibrant landscape becomes more subdued, and the mountains take on a quieter, more solemn beauty.
